Sunan Ibn Majah
Number of Hadiths, Books, and Chapters in Sunan Ibn Majah

Statement of Hafiz Ibn Kathir about Sunan Ibn Majah

Hafiz Ibn Kathir said:
"Sunan Ibn Majah contains thirty-two books, fifteen hundred chapters, and four thousand hadiths, and except for a few of its narrations, all are authentic and reliable." (Al-Bidayah wa al-Nihayah: Mention of Imam Ibn Majah)

The reviver of the ummah, Imam al-Allamah Sayyid Siddiq Hasan Khan Qanuji Bhopali, also wrote valuable details about Sunan Ibn Majah and its author, Imam Ibn Majah, in the introduction of his book "Misk al-Khitam Sharh Farsi Bulugh al-Maram" and in another book of his titled "Al-Hittah fi Bayan al-Sihah al-Sittah". The greatness of this book can be gauged from the fact that apart from Salafi institutions in India, even other seminaries include the teaching of Sunan Ibn Majah. In this era of decline in knowledge, this too is a praiseworthy achievement.
