باب مَا جَاءَ فِي الرُّجْحَانِ فِي الْوَزْنِ
Chapter: Description of Weighing More by Tilting the Scale
Hadith Number: 1305
حدثنا هناد، ومحمود بن غيلان، قالا: حدثنا وكيع، عن سفيان، عن سماك بن حرب، عن سويد بن قيس، قال: جلبت انا ومخرفة العبدي بزا من هجر، فجاءنا النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فساومنا بسراويل وعندي وزان يزن بالاجر، فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: " للوزان زن وارجح ". قال: وفي الباب، عن جابر، وابي هريرة. قال ابو عيسى: حديث سويد حديث حسن صحيح، واهل العلم يستحبون الرجحان في الوزن، وروى شعبة هذا الحديث، عن سماك، فقال: عن ابي صفوان وذكر الحديث.
Suwaid bin Qais (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I and Makhramah ‘Abdi both brought a cloth from the place of Hajar. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us and bargained with us for a pair of trousers. I had a person who used to weigh (goods) for a fee, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the one weighing: "Weigh with a little extra." Imam Tirmidhi says:
1- The hadith of Suwaid (may Allah be pleased with him) is Hasan Sahih,
2- The scholars consider it recommended to weigh with a little extra,
3- In this chapter, there are also ahadith from Jabir and Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with them both),
4- And Shu’bah has also narrated this hadith from Simak, but he said «عن ابی صفوان» instead of «عن سوید بن قیس» , and then mentioned the hadith further.
