'Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever drags his garment out of pride, Allah, the Exalted, will not look at him on the Day of Resurrection." Umm Salamah said: "What should women do with their hems?" He said: "Let them lower it by a handspan." She said: "Then their feet will be uncovered." He said: "Let them lower it by a handspan, and do not let them lower it more than that." Imam Tirmidhi says: This hadith is hasan sahih.

‘Umm al-Mu’minin Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) estimated a handspan for Fatimah’s «نطاق» . 1 Imam Tirmidhi says:
1- Some people have narrated it with the chain of «حماد بن سلمة عن علي بن زيد عن الحسن عن أمه عن أم سلمة» ,
2- In this hadith, women are permitted to let their lower garment (sheet) drag, because it provides them with greater covering.
