'Abdullah bin 'Umar narrated: "A man came to the Prophet and said: 'O Messenger of Allah! How many times should the servant be pardoned?' The Prophet was silent. Then he said: 'O Messenger of Allah! How many times should the servant be pardoned?' He said: ' Seventy times each day.'"

A similar hadith is also narrated from Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) through this chain. And some people have narrated this hadith from Abdullah bin Wahb through the same chain, but in the chain, instead of Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), the name of Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) is mentioned.
