It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Our Lord, Blessed and Exalted, descends to the lowest heaven every night in the last third of the night and says: Who is there who supplicates to Me so that I may answer his supplication? Who is there who asks of Me so that I may give to him? Who is there who seeks forgiveness from Me so that I may forgive his sins?"

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Hakam (may Allah be pleased with him) that I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! I have a slave girl who used to tend my goats. When I came to her, one goat was missing. I asked her about it, and she said: A wolf ate it. I became angry with her, and I am from the children of Adam. So I slapped her on the face. It is obligatory upon me to free a slave; should I free her? Then (when he brought his slave girl), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked the slave girl: "Where is Allah?" She said: "He is in the sky." He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Who am I?" She said: "You are the Messenger of Allah." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Free her."
