And with the same chain of narration, it is reported from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a dead goat which he had given to the slave woman of his wife, Sayyida Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her). So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why did you not benefit from its skin (hide)?" The people said: It is dead. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Only its eating has been made unlawful."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a hide is tanned, it becomes pure."

It is narrated from the wife of the Prophet, Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that the skin of a dead animal be used after tanning.
