And Qadi Shurayh said to those who sold cotton that judgment will be given according to the custom of you people. And ‘Abdul Wahhab narrated from Ayyub, who narrated from Muhammad bin Sirin, that there is no objection in selling goods worth ten for eleven. And the same profit should be taken on the expenses incurred. And the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to Hind (the wife of Abu Sufyan),“Take what is sufficient for you and your children according to what is customary.”And Allah the Exalted said that whoever is in need may eat (from the wealth of the orphan) with good intention. And Imam Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) hired a donkey from ‘Abdullah bin Mirdas, so he asked him its rent, and he said,“Two wanaq.”(One wanaq is one-sixth of a dirham.) After that, he rode the donkey, then on another occasion he came for a need and said,“I need the donkey.”This time he rode it without fixing the rent and sent him half a dirham.
