Virtue of loving each other for the sake of Allah
Hadith Number: 611
It is narrated from Abu Idris al-Khawlani (may Allah have mercy on him) that I entered the mosque of Damascus and saw a young man with shining teeth, and people were gathered around him. Whenever they differed about something, they would refer to him and turn to his opinion (decision). I asked: Who is this? It was said: This is Mu'adh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him). The next morning I came early and saw that he had arrived before me and was praying. I waited for him, and when he finished his prayer, I came before him, greeted him with salam, and then said: By Allah! I love you for the sake of Allah. He said: By Allah, is it for Allah's sake? I said: By Allah, for Allah's sake! He said: By Allah, is it for Allah's sake? I said: By Allah, for Allah's sake! So he took hold of the edge (corner) of my cloak and pulled it towards him and said: Rejoice! For I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say that Allah says: My love is obligatory for those two persons who love each other for My sake, sit together for My sake, visit each other for My sake, and spend on each other for My sake.
