Shamail al-Tirmidhi
بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي قَوْلِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَبْلَ الطَّعَامِ وَبَعْدَمَا يَفْرُغُ مِنْهُ
Chapter: What has been reported concerning the saying of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) before and after eating
Dua when leaving the dining mat and its linguistic analysis
Hadith Number: 191
حدثنا محمد بن بشار قال: حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد قال: حدثنا ثور بن يزيد، عن خالد بن معدان، عن ابي امامة قال: كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا رفعت المائدة من بين يديه يقول: «الحمد لله حمدا كثيرا طيبا مباركا فيه غير مودع ولا مستغنى عنه ربنا»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him), he said that when the dining mat was removed from in front of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he would recite this supplication:“ «الحمد لله حمدا طيبا مباركا فيه غير مودع ولا مستغني عنه ربنا» , that all praise is for Allah, abundant praise, pure and blessed! O Allah! Our Lord! Neither can we leave it nor can we do without it.”
