Chapter: What has been reported concerning the fasting of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)
The Prophet’s continual voluntary fasting
Hadith Number: 297
حدثنا قتيبة بن سعيد قال: حدثنا حماد بن زيد، عن ايوب، عن عبد الله بن شقيق قال: سالت عائشة، عن صيام رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قالت: «كان يصوم حتى نقول قد صام، ويفطر حتى نقول قد افطر» . قالت: «وما صام رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم شهرا كاملا منذ قدم المدينة إلا رمضان»
Abdullah bin Shaqiq says that I asked Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) about the fasts of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so she said: When he (peace be upon him) would fast, we would say that now he will continue fasting, and when he would break his fast, we would say that now he will continue not fasting. And since he came to Madinah, apart from the month of Ramadan, he did not fast for any complete month.
