Book of Beginning of Creation
Description of the angels.
Sayyiduna Ya'la (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) reciting this verse on the pulpit: "And they will call out, 'O Malik...'" (Surah Az-Zukhruf: 77) (Malik is the name of the keeper of Hell).
تخریج الحدیث:
Narrated by Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: The night I was taken on the Mi'raj, I saw Musa (peace be upon him), who was a wheat-colored, tall man with curly hair, resembling the people of the tribe of Shanu’ah. And I also saw Isa (peace be upon him), who was of medium height, medium build, reddish-white, with straight hair. And I saw the angel who is the keeper of Hell. And I saw the Dajjal among the signs of Allah that Allah showed me (on that day). And (in Surah As-Sajdah: 23) where it is said, "You should not have any doubt about this meeting," (it refers to the meeting with Musa (peace be upon him) on the night of Mi'raj).
تخریج الحدیث:
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) narrated to us, and he is the truthful and the believed:“The creation of each one of you is completed in his mother’s womb. For forty days he remains as a drop of fluid, then for the same period as a clot of blood, then for the same number of days as a lump of flesh. Then Allah sends an angel, and he is commanded regarding four matters: (1) it is said to him to write his deeds, (2) his provision, (3) his lifespan, (4) and (to write) whether he is wretched or blessed (i.e., fortunate or unfortunate). Then the soul is breathed into him. So, indeed, one of you may perform deeds of the people of Paradise until there is only a cubit between him and Paradise, then the decree (written destiny) overtakes him and he begins to do the deeds of the people of Hellfire and thus enters it. And a person may perform deeds of the people of Hellfire until there is only a cubit between him and Hell, then the decree (destiny) overtakes him and he begins to do the deeds of the people of Paradise and thus enters it.”
تخریج الحدیث:
Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he said: "When Allah loves a servant, He calls Jibreel (peace be upon him) and says: 'Allah loves so-and-so, so you should also love him.' So Jibreel (peace be upon him) begins to love him. Then Jibreel (peace be upon him) announces among the inhabitants of the heavens that Allah loves so-and-so, so you should also love him. Thus, all the inhabitants of the heavens begin to love him, and then acceptance for him is placed among the people of the earth."
تخریج الحدیث:
Narrated from Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that she heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "The angels descend in the clouds and mention the commands of Allah that have been decreed in the heavens on that day. Then the devils secretly listen to it and come to the soothsayers and convey it to them, and they add some lies from themselves to it."
تخریج الحدیث:
Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When it is Friday, angels stand at every door of the mosque and record the names of those who come, in order of their arrival. The one who comes first, then the one who comes after him, and so on. When the Imam sits (on the pulpit), they close their registers and come to listen to the sermon."
تخریج الحدیث:
Narrated Al-Bara' (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to Hassan bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him): "Satirize the polytheists, and Gabriel (peace be upon him) is with you."
تخریج الحدیث:
Narrated from Ummul Momineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said to her: "O Aisha! This is Jibreel (Gabriel, peace be upon him) who conveys greetings to you." She replied, "And peace be upon him, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. You (peace be upon you) see what I do not see." By "tarā" (you see), the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was meant.
تخریج الحدیث:
Narrated Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to Jibreel (peace be upon him): "Why do you not come to us more often than you do?" Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said: Then this verse was revealed: "And we (angels) do not descend except by the command of your Lord. To Him belongs whatever is before us and whatever is behind us." (Surah Maryam: 64)
تخریج الحدیث:
Narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Gabriel (peace be upon him) taught me the Qur'an in one mode of recitation, then I kept asking him for more until it reached seven modes of recitation."
