باب الشهادات
Hadith Number: 1201
عن زيد بن خالد الجهني رضي الله عنه ان النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال:«الا اخبركم بخير الشهداء؟الذي ياتي بالشهادة قبل ان يسالها» .رواه مسلم.
Narrated Zaid bin Khaled al-Juhani (RA): The Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said: "Shall I not inform you who is the best witness? He is the one who produces his testimony before he is asked for it." [Reported by Muslim] .
Hadith Number: 1202
وعن عمران بن حصين رضي الله عنهما قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: «إن خيركم قرني ثم الذين يلونهم ثم الذين يلونهم ثم يكون قوم يشهدون ولا يستشهدون ويخونون ولا يؤتمنون وينذرون ولا يوفون ويظهر فيهم السمن» متفق عليه.
Narrated 'Imran bin Husain (RA): Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said: "Verily! The best of you (i.e. Muslims) are my generation, then their immediate followers, then their immediate followers. After them there will be people who will give (false) testimony without being asked (to testify), who will be treacherous and are not to be trusted, who will make vows and will not fulfill them, among whom obesity will appear." [Agreed upon] .
Hadith Number: 1203
وعن عبد الله بن عمرو رضي الله عنهما قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: «لا تجوز شهادة خائن ولا خائنة ولا ذي غمر على اخيه ولا تجوز شهادة القانع لاهل البيت» رواه احمد وابو داود.
Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar (RA): Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said: "It is not permissible to accept the testimony of a man or a woman who does not fulfill their trusts, or of one who harbors a grudge against his brother, or the testimony of one who is dependent on a family (to testify) for members of the family." [Reported by Ahmad and Abu Dawud] .
Hadith Number: 1204
وعن ابي هريرة رضي الله عنه انه سمع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم يقول: «لا تجوز شهادة بدوي على صاحب قرية» رواه ابو داود وابن ماجه.
Narrated Abu Hurairah (RA): He heard Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) say. "The testimony of a bedouin against a city dweller is not permissible." [Reported by Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah] .
Hadith Number: 1205
وعن عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه انه خطب فقال: إن اناسا كانوا يؤخذون بالوحي في عهد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم وإن الوحي قد انقطع وإنما نؤاخذكم الآن بما ظهر لنا من اعمالكم. رواه البخاري.
Narrated 'Umar bin al-Khattab (RA): He addressed the people and said, "People were sometimes judged by the revealing of a Divine Revelation during the lifetime of Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ), but now the Divine Revelation has been discontinued [i.e. there is no longer any new revelation coming] . Now we judge you by the deeds you practice publicly." [Reported by al-Bukhari] .
Hadith Number: 1206
وعن ابي بكرة رضي الله عنه عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم انه عد شهادة الزور من اكبر الكبائر. متفق عليه في حديث طويل.
Narrated Abu Bakra (RA): The Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) considered Shahadah az-Zur (giving false testimony) among the most serious of major sins. [al-Bukhari and Muslim reported it in a long Hadith] .
Hadith Number: 1207
وعن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما ان النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال لرجل: «ترى الشمس؟» قال: نعم قال: «على مثلها فشاهد او دع» اخرجه ابن عدي بإسناد ضعيف وصححه الحاكم فاخطا.
Narrated Ibn 'Abbas (RA): The Prophet ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) said to a man, "Do you see the sun?" He replied, "Yes." He said, "Give witness in a similar case [which is as clear as the sun] , or leave it." [Ibn 'Adi reported it with a Da'if (weak) chain or narrators, and al-Hakim graded it Sahih (authentic), but he was mistaken] .
Hadith Number: 1208
وعن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قضى بيمين وشاهد. اخرجه مسلم وابو داود والنسائي وقال: إسناده جيد.
Narrated Ibn 'Abbas (RA): Allah's Messenger ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) ruled on the basis of an oath and a single witness. [Muslim, Abu Dawud and an-Nasa'i reported it, the latter said that it has a Jayyid (good) chain or narrators] .
Hadith Number: 1209
وعن ابي هريرة رضي الله عنه مثله. اخرجه ابو داود والترمذي وصححه ابن حبان.
Narrated Aby Hurairah (RA): Something similar to the aforesaid Hadith. [Abu Dawud and at-Tirmidhi reported it. Ibn Hibban graded it Sahih (authentic)] .
