Book of Children’s Influence
بَابُ بِرِّ الأَبِ لِوَلَدِهِ
Chapter: The Father's Dutifulness to His Child
Hadith Number: 94
حدثنا ابن مخلد، عن عيسى بن يونس، عن الوصافي، عن محارب بن دثار، عن ابن عمر قال: إنما سماهم الله ابرارا، لانهم بروا الآباء والابناء، كما ان لوالدك عليك حقا، كذلك لولدك عليك حق.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), he said: Allah Almighty has named them (in the Qur'an) as "the righteous" (Abrar), because they showed kindness to their forefathers and their children. Just as your parents have a right over you, so too do your children have a right over you.
