It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him), who reports from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he said:“Adhere to truthfulness, for truthfulness leads to righteousness and obedience, and righteousness paves the way to Paradise. Indeed, a person continues to speak the truth until he is recorded with Allah as a very truthful person. And beware of lying, for lying leads to wickedness and immorality, and wickedness drives one towards the Fire. A person continues to lie until he is recorded with Allah as a great liar.”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: Lying is not permissible in any form, whether in seriousness or in jest, to the extent that it is not even permissible for any of you to promise something to his child and then not give it.
