Harith bin Laqit (may Allah have mercy on him) says that some of us were such that when his mare gave birth, he would slaughter it and say, "What guarantee is there of my life that I will ride it?" Then a decree from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came to us stating, "Preserve the sustenance that Allah gives you, for indeed the Day of Judgment is still far off."

It is narrated from Dawud bin Abi Dawud (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me: If you hear that the Dajjal has appeared and you are planting something in the ground, do not hurry, rather plant it well, because people will continue to live even after that.
