Chapter: The Guest's Gift
Hadith Number: 741
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Shurayh ‘Adawi (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: My ears heard and my eyes saw when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was saying:“Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should honor his neighbor. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should honor his guest with special hospitality.”The narrator asked: O Messenger of Allah! How long is the special hospitality? He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“A day and a night, and hospitality is for three days, and whatever is beyond that is charity for him. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak good or remain silent.”
