Narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was passing through the market by way of the upper part of the city, and people were on both sides of him. He passed by a dead goat kid with cut ears. He took hold of its ear and said:“Who among you would like to buy this for one dirham?”The people said:“We would not like it for anything; and what would we do with it?”He said:“Would you like to have it for free?”They said:“No.”He said this to them three times, and they said:“By Allah, no. Even if it were alive, it would be defective, for its ears are cut, and now it is dead, so who would take it?”The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“By Allah! Verily, the world is more worthless to Allah than this is to you.”

It is narrated from ‘Ata bin Dhamrah (may Allah have mercy on him) that I saw a man at the place of Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka‘b (may Allah be pleased with him) who was attributing himself to the days of ignorance (Jahiliyyah). Sayyiduna Ubayy (may Allah be pleased with him) told him to bite his own male organ, and he did not use a euphemism but said it explicitly. His companions looked at him in astonishment. He said: Do you find my words inappropriate? Then he said: I will not fear anyone in this matter. I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say:“Whoever attributes himself to the days of ignorance, tell him to bite his own male organ, and do not use a euphemism but say it explicitly.”

This narration is also reported in the same way through Ibn al-Mubarak (may Allah have mercy on him).
