It is narrated from Aslam, the freed slave of Umar (may Allah have mercy on him), that when we came to Syria with Sayyiduna Umar ibn Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), the chief of that place came to him and said: O Commander of the Faithful! I have prepared food for you, and I wish that you would come to my house with a few dignitaries. This will strengthen my work and also be an honor for me. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We cannot enter your churches while these pictures are present in them.
