Book of Restraining the Gaze
بَابُ فُضُولِ الْكَلامِ
Excessive speech
Hadith Number: 1307
حدثنا مسدد، قال: حدثنا معتمر، عن ليث، عن عطاء، عن ابي هريرة قال: لا خير في فضول الكلام.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: There is no good in idle talk.

Hadith Number: 1308
حدثنا مطر، قال: حدثنا يزيد، قال: حدثنا البراء بن يزيد، عن عبد الله بن شقيق، عن ابي هريرة، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: ”شرار امتي الثرثارون، المشدقون، المتفيهقون، وخيار امتي احاسنهم اخلاقا.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The worst and most wicked people of my Ummah are those who talk excessively, speak with wide open mouths, and speak with their mouths full. And the best people of my Ummah are those who have the best character."
