باب الْحَائِضِ تَذْكُرُ اللَّهَ وَلاَ تَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ:
Chapter: Menstruating Woman Remembers Allah but Does Not Recite Qur'an
Hadith Number: 1025
اخبرنا محمد بن يوسف، حدثنا سفيان، عن مغيرة، عن إبراهيم، قال: "الحائض والجنب يذكران الله، ويسميان".
Imam Ibrahim, may Allah have mercy on him, said: The one in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah) and the menstruating woman will remember Allah and recite Bismillah.

Hadith Number: 1026
اخبرنا محمد بن يوسف، حدثنا سفيان، قال: بلغني عن إبراهيم، وسعيد بن جبير، انهما قالا: "لا يقرا الجنب والحائض آية تامة، يقرآن الحرف".
Sufyan Thawri said: It has reached us from Imam Ibrahim Nakha'i and Sa'id bin Jubayr, may Allah have mercy on them both, that they used to say: A person in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah) and a menstruating woman cannot recite a complete verse, but they can recite a word or a sentence.

Hadith Number: 1027
اخبرنا محمد بن يزيد البزاز، حدثنا شريك، عن فراس، عن عامر: "الجنب والحائض لا يقرآن القرآن".
It is narrated from Aamir Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) that a person in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) and a menstruating woman will not recite the Qur'an.

Hadith Number: 1028
اخبرنا اخبرنا ابو الوليد، حدثنا شعبة، حدثنا الحكم، عن إبراهيم، قال: كان عمر رضي الله عنه يكره او "ينهى ان يقرا الجنب"، قال شعبة:"وجدت في الكتاب والحائض".
It is narrated from Imam Ibrahim Nakha'i (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) considered it disliked or forbade a person in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) from reciting the Qur'an. Shu’bah said: I also saw in the book that he said the same regarding a menstruating woman.

Hadith Number: 1029
اخبرنا يزيد بن هارون، عن هشام الدستوائي، عن حماد، عن إبراهيم، قال: "اربعة لا يقرءون القرآن: عند الخلاء، وفي الحمام، والجنب، والحائض، إلا الآية ونحوها للجنب والحائض".
Imam Ibrahim, may Allah have mercy on him, said: Four (persons) will not recite the Qur'an: the one who is in the toilet, the one who is in the bathhouse, the one who is in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah), and the menstruating woman. However, the menstruating woman and the one in a state of janabah may recite a verse or a sentence.

اخبرنا عبد الله بن سعيد، حدثنا ابو خالد الاحمر، عن حجاج، عن عطاء، وحماد، عن إبراهيم، وسعيد بن جبير، قالوا: "الحائض والجنب يستفتحون الآية ولا يتمون آخرها".
Imam Ibrahim and Saeed bin Jubair, may Allah have mercy on them, said: A menstruating woman and a man or woman in a state of major ritual impurity (janabah) may recite the beginning part of a verse, but they should not recite the entire verse to its end.

اخبرنا حجاج، حدثنا حماد بن سلمة، عن عاصم الاحول، عن ابي العالية، في الحائض , قال: "لا تقرا القرآن".
It is narrated from Abu Al-Aliyah regarding a menstruating woman that she will not recite the Qur'an.

Hadith Number: 1032
اخبرنا اخبرنا عبيد الله بن موسى، وابو نعيم، قالا: اخبرنا السائب بن عمر، عن ابن ابي مليكة، ان عائشة رضي الله عنها كانت "ترقي اسماء رضي الله عنها وهي عارك".
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Ubaidullah bin Abi Mulaykah that Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) used to perform ruqyah (spiritual healing) on Lady Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) during her menstrual period.

Hadith Number: 1033
اخبرنا مسلم، حدثنا هشام، حدثنا قتادة، قال: "الجنب يذكر اسم الله تعالى".
Qatadah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated that a person in the state of janabah can mention the name of Allah.

Hadith Number: 1034
اخبرنا سهل بن حماد، حدثنا شعبة، عن سيار، عن ابي وائل، قال: كان يقال: "لا يقرا الجنب، ولا الحائض، ولا يقرا في الحمام، وحالان لا يذكر العبد فيهما الله: عند الخلاء، وعند الجماع، إلا ان الرجل إذا اتى اهله، بدا فسمى الله".
Abu Wa'il (Shaqiq bin Salamah) said: It used to be said that a person in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) and a menstruating woman cannot recite the Qur'an, nor can it be recited in the toilet, and there are two states in which a person cannot remember Allah: while defecating and during intercourse. However, when approaching his wife, he should mention the name of Allah before beginning the "act."
