Chapter: Raising the hands in bowing and prostration
Hadith Number: 1284
Narrated by Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) started the prayer, he would say «الله اكبر» and raise both his hands up to his shoulders (i.e., perform Raf‘ al-Yadayn), and when he would go into bowing (ruku‘), he would say the takbeer and raise his hands, and when he would raise his head from bowing, he would likewise raise his hands, but he would not raise his hands between the two prostrations or during prostration.

Malik bin Huwairith narrated that when the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said the opening Takbir, he would raise his hands up to his ears, and in the same way when going into bowing (ruku‘) and when raising his head from bowing, he would perform the raising of the hands (raf‘ al-yadayn).

Hadith Number: 1286
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Wa'il Hadhrami (may Allah be pleased with him) that he prayed with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). When the Prophet (peace be upon him) would bow and rise, he would say the takbeer, and he would raise both his hands at the time of takbeer, and he would turn for salam to the right and to the left, it was said: to the extent that the whiteness of his face would become visible. He said: Yes.
