كِتَاب تَفْسِيرِ الْقُرْآنِ
The Book of Commentary
بَابُ قَوْلِهِ: {وَعَلَى الَّذِينَ هَادُوا حَرَّمْنَا كُلَّ ذِي ظُفُرٍ وَمِنَ الْبَقَرِ وَالْغَنَمِ حَرَّمْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ شُحُومَهُمَا} الآيَةَ:
Chapter.“And unto those who are Jews, We forbade every (animal) with undivided hoof..." (V.6:146)
Hadith Number: Q4633
وقال ابن عباس: كل ذي ظفر: البعير والنعامة، الحوايا: المبعر، وقال غيره: هادوا: صاروا يهودا، واما قوله: هدنا: تبنا هائد تائب.
Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that «كل ذي ظفر» refers to camels and ostriches. The word «الحوايا» means "stomach" (paunch), and someone else said regarding the meaning of «هادوا» that they became Jews. But in Surah Al-A'raf, the word «هدنا» means "we repented," and from this comes the word «هائد» , which means "one who repents."

حدثنا عمرو بن خالد، حدثنا الليث، عن يزيد بن ابي حبيب، قال عطاء: سمعت جابر بن عبد الله رضي الله عنهما، سمعت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال:" قاتل الله اليهود، لما حرم الله عليهم شحومها جملوه، ثم باعوه فاكلوها"، وقال ابو عاصم: حدثنا عبد الحميد، حدثنا يزيد، كتب إلي عطاء، سمعت جابرا، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، مثله.s
Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah: The Prophet said, "May Allah curse the Jews! When Allah forbade them to eat the fat of animals, they melted it and sold it, and utilized its price! "
