Chapter: One Who Looks into a House Without Permission
Hadith Number: 2421
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d al-Sa’idi (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that a man began to peep through a hole in the door of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). At that time, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had an iron comb in his hand with which he was combing his hair. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw that man peeping, he said:“If I had known that you were looking at me, I would have poked this comb into your eye.”And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Permission to enter has been enjoined only so that the gaze may not fall (unlawfully).”

Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was combing his hair with an iron comb in the room, a companion began to peep inside. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“If I had known that you were peeping, I would have stood up and poked this comb into your eye. Permission to enter has been enjoined only because of the gaze.”
