Imam Zuhri, may Allah have mercy on him, said: Muhammad bin Jubair bin Mut’im used to narrate a hadith from Sayyiduna Muawiyah, may Allah be pleased with him, at the time when Muhammad was with the delegation of Quraysh with him. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, saying:“This caliphate will remain among the Quraysh, and whoever opposes them, Allah Almighty will cast him down on his face as long as they (the Quraysh) remain established upon the religion.”
