باب في الْخِيَارِ وَالْعُهْدَةِ:
Chapter: On Options and Liability
Hadith Number: 2587
حدثنا مسلم بن إبراهيم، حدثنا ابان بن يزيد، حدثنا قتادة، عن الحسن، عن عقبة بن عامر: ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم , قال: "عهدة الرقيق ثلاثة ايام".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The option (i.e., guarantee) regarding a slave is for three days."

اخبرنا يزيد بن هارون، عن همام، عن قتادة، عن الحسن، عن عقبة بن العامر، قال: قال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: "عهدة الرقيق ثلاثة ايام". ففسره قتادة: إن وجد في الثلاث عيبا رده بغير بينة، وإن وجده بعد ثلاثة، لم يرده إلا ببينة.
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The guarantee for a slave is for three days."
Qatadah (may Allah have mercy on him) explained its interpretation as follows: If a defect is found in the slave on the third day, the buyer has the option to return him without any proof, but if a defect is found after four days, he cannot return him without proof.
