Chapter on replying to greetings
Hadith Number: 2675
Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was performing prayer. When he had finished the prayer, I came to him and I was the first person to greet him with the Islamic greeting. He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied:“Wa alaikas-salam wa rahmatullah. Which tribe are you from?”I said: From Ghifar. He (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured with his hand (or lowered it). I thought to myself: Perhaps he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not like my affiliation with Ghifar.
