From the Book of Seeking Permission
باب إِذَا سُلِّمَ عَلَى الرَّجُلِ وَهُوَ يَبُولُ:
Chapter: Greeting someone who is urinating
Hadith Number: 2677
اخبرنا إسحاق، حدثنا معاذ بن هشام، حدثني ابي، عن قتادة، عن الحسن، عن الحضين، عن المهاجر بن قنفذ: انه سلم على النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وهو يبول، "فلم يرد عليه السلام حتى توضا، فلما توضا، رده عليه".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Muhajir bin Qunfudh (may Allah be pleased with him) that he greeted the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). At that time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was urinating, so he did not reply to his greeting. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution, and then replied to the greeting.
