From the Book of Seeking Permission
باب لاَ يُقِيمَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ مِنْ مَجْلِسِهِ:
Chapter: Do not make someone get up from his seat
Hadith Number: 2688
اخبرنا مسدد، حدثنا بشر بن المفضل، حدثنا عبيد الله، عن نافع، عن ابن عمر، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: "لا يقيم الرجل يعني: اخاه من مجلسه، ثم يقعد فيه، ولكن تفسحوا وتوسعوا".
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No person should make another person get up from his place so that he himself may sit there; rather, make room or create space in the gathering."
