Statement about the stages of a child's creation
Hadith Number: 16
حدثنا خليفة بن محمد الموصلي ، حدثنا الحسن بن عرفة ، حدثنا موسى بن مسعود ابو حذيفة ، حدثنا الهيثم بن الجهم المؤذن ، عن عاصم ابن بهدلة ، عن ابي وائل ، عن عبد الله بن مسعود ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم:" إن النطفة إذا استقرت في الرحم تكون نطفة اربعين ليلة، ثم تكون علقة اربعين ليلة، ثم تكون مضغة اربعين ليلة، ثم تكون عظاما اربعين ليلة، ثم يكسو الله العظام لحما، فيقول الملك: اي رب، ذكرا او انثى؟ فيقضي الله عز وجل، ويكتب الملك، ثم يقول: اي رب، شقي او سعيد؟ فيقضي الله عز وجل، ويكتب الملك، ثم يقول: اي رب، اجله ورزقه واثره؟ فيقضي الله عز وجل ويكتب الملك"، لم يروه عن عاصم، إلا الهيثم بن الجهم ابو عثمان بن الهيثم، ولا عنه إلا ابو حذيفة. تفرد به الحسن بن عرفة
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the drop of fluid settles in the womb, it remains as a drop for forty days, then it remains as a clot for forty days, then it remains as a lump of flesh for forty days, then in forty days bones are formed, then Allah Almighty clothes the bones with flesh. Then the angel says: O Allah! Is it male or female? So Allah Almighty decides, and the angel writes it down. Then he says: O my Lord! Is he blessed or wretched? So Allah Almighty decides, and the angel writes it down. Then he says: O Lord! What is the time of his death, his provision, and his lifespan? So Allah Almighty decides, and the angel writes it down."
