Book of Prayer
Prohibition of letting the garment hang below the ankles in prayer
Hadith Number: 294
حدثنا محمد ابن حنيفة ابو حنيفة الواسطي ، حدثنا احمد بن الفرج الجشمي الحوزي المقرئ ، حدثنا حفص بن ابي داود ، عن الهيثم بن حبيب الصيرفي ، عن علي بن الاقمر ، عن ابي جحيفة ، قال:"ابصر رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم رجلا يصلي، وقد سدل ثوبه، فدنا منه رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم، فعطف عليه ثوبه"، لم يروه عن علي بن الارقم، إلا الهيثم. تفرد به حفص بن ابي داود
Sayyiduna Abu Juhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man performing prayer with his garment trailing. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) approached him and folded his garment over him, that is, placed it over the edges of his neck.
