Description of sighting the crescent of Ramadan and Shawwal
Hadith Number: 367
حدثنا احمد بن محمد بن شعيب الارجاني ، بها، حدثنا محمد بن عبد الله بن يزيد المقرئ ، حدثني ابي ، حدثنا ورقاء ، عن شعبة ، عن محمد بن زياد ، عن ابي هريرة ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم:"صوموا لرؤيته، وافطروا لرؤيته، فإن غم عليكم، فاكملوا العدة ثلاثين"، لم يروه عن ورقاء، إلا عبد الله بن يزيد المقرئ
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Fast upon sighting the moon and celebrate Eid al-Fitr upon sighting the moon. If clouds obscure (the sky) for you, then complete the count to thirty."
