Description of performing Hajj on behalf of parents
Hadith Number: 441
حدثنا حامد بن شعيب البغدادي ، حدثنا سريج بن يونس ، حدثنا ابو إسماعيل المؤدب ، عن يعقوب بن عطاء ، عن ابيه ، عن ابن عباس ، قال: جاء رجل إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال: يا رسول الله،" إن ابي شيخ كبير، لا يطيق الحج، افاحج عنه؟، قال: اكنت قاضيا دينا لو كان عليه؟، فقال: نعم، فقال: فدين الله اولى حج عنه"، لم يروه عن يعقوب بن عطاء، إلا ابو إسماعيل، تفرد به سريج
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates: A man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: My father is old and cannot perform Hajj; can I perform Hajj on his behalf? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If your father had a debt, would you pay it off for him?" He replied: Yes! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then Allah's debt is more deserving of being paid. Perform Hajj on his behalf."
