Explanation of Banu Rabee’ah joining the army before the Prophet (peace be upon him)
Hadith Number: 585
حدثنا ابو شراعة عبد الله بن شراعة القيسي النصري ، حدثنا النمر بن كلثوم النمري ، حدثني ابي ، عن حميد الطويل ، عن انس بن مالك رضي الله عنه، قال:"جاءت ربيعة النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم يستاذنونه ان ينفروا في النفر الاول، فاتاه جبريل عليه السلام، فقال:" يا محمد، إن الله عز وجل يقرئك السلام، ويقول لك: قل لربيعة: لا تنفر في النفر الاول فلاقلنك من حبيب"، لا يروى عن انس، إلا بهذا الإسناد، تفرد به النمر
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, says: The Banu Rabi’ah came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, seeking permission to set out with the army before others. Then Jibril, peace be upon him, came to the Prophet and said:“O Muhammad! Allah, the Exalted, sends peace upon you and commands you to tell Banu Rabi’ah not to set out with the army first, otherwise I will diminish your friends.”
