Description of the Prophet (peace be upon him) preaching to the Quraysh due to kinship
Hadith Number: 848
حدثنا احمد بن جعفر الاصبهاني ، حدثنا الحسن بن علي المناطقي ، حدثنا ابو زهير عبد الرحمن بن مغراء ، عن ابي سعد سعيد البقال ، عن عكرمة ، عن ابن عباس ، في قوله عز وجل:"قل لا اسالكم عليه اجرا إلا المودة في القربى سورة الشورى آية 23، قال: إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لم يكن بطن من قريش إلا وله فيهم ام حتى كانت له في هذيل ام، فقال الله عز وجل: قل لا اسالكم عليه اجرا سورة الانعام آية 90 إلا ان تحفظوني في قرابتي، ولا تخونوني، ولا تكذبوني، ولا تؤذوني"، لم يروه عن ابي سعد، سعيد، البقال، إلا ابو زهير
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding the statement of Allah Almighty: «قُلْ لَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا إِلَّا الْمَوَدَّةَ فِي الْقُرْبَىٰ» "Say: I do not ask you for any reward for it except love for [my] near relatives." (Ash-Shura: 23) says: There was no clan of the Quraysh in which the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) mother was not present, even in Hudhayl there was one of his mothers. So Allah Almighty said: Say, I do not ask you for any reward for it, except that you maintain the ties of kinship with me and do not betray me, do not deny me, and do not harm me.
