Book of Softening the Hearts
Warning for the rich due to the poor on the Day of Judgment
Hadith Number: 1013
حدثنا عبيد بن عبيد الله بن جحش الاسدي الحمصي ، حدثنا جنادة بن مروان المري ، حدثنا الحارث بن النعمان بن اخت سعيد بن جبير ، قال: سمعت انس بن مالك ، يقول: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم:"ويل للاغنياء من الفقراء يوم القيامة، يقولون: ربنا، ظلمونا حقوقنا التي فرضت لنا عليهم، فيقول: وعزتي وجلالي لادنينكم ولاباعدنهم، لابعدنهم، ثم تلا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: والذين في اموالهم حق معلوم {24} للسائل والمحروم {25} سورة المعارج آية 24-25"، لا يروى عن انس، إلا بهذا الإسناد، تفرد به جنادة
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Woe to the rich people because of the poor on the Day of Resurrection. They will say: 'O our Lord! They wronged us regarding our rights which were obligatory upon them for us.' So Allah, the Exalted, will say: 'By My honor and majesty! I will bring you close to Me and distance them from Me.'" Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited: " (In their wealth there is a known right) for the beggar and the deprived."
