Sayyiduna Hudhayfah bin al-Yaman, Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amr, and Sayyiduna Abu Mas’ud Ansari (may Allah be pleased with them) — all three met each other, so one of them said to the other:“Narrate the hadith you heard from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).”So one of them narrated this hadith and the other confirmed it. The hadith is as follows: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“On the Day of Resurrection, a man will be brought and made to stand before Allah. Allah will ask him: ‘What deed did you leave behind after your death?’ He will say: O Allah! I used to deal with people in buying and selling, and when I dealt with someone in difficulty, I would give him respite. So Allah will say: ‘I am more deserving of being lenient with My servant.’ Then Allah will forgive him.”When one companion narrated this hadith, the other said:“Yes! You have spoken the truth; I heard this hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the same way.”
