Description of reconciling between two disputing parties
Hadith Number: 1148
حدثنا احمد بن عيسى ابي الحريش الصوفي الكلابي الكوفي ، حدثنا عمرو بن محمد بن الحسن الاسدي ، حدثنا ابي ، حدثنا حفص بن سليمان ، عن كثير بن شنظير ، عن ابي العالية ، عن عقبة بن عامر الجهني ، قال: جئت إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم، وعنده خصمان يختصمان فقال لي:" اقض بينهما، فقلت: بابي انت وامي انت اولى بذلك، فقال: اقض بينهما، فقلت: على ماذا؟، قال: اجتهد فإن اصبت فلك عشر حسنات، وإن لم تصب فلك حسنة"، لم يروه عن ابن شنظير، إلا حفص، ولا يروى عن عقبة، إلا بهذا الإسناد
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir al-Juhani, may Allah be pleased with him, says: I came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and there were two quarrelsome people arguing in his presence. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to me: "Decide between them." I said: May my parents be sacrificed for you, you are more deserving of this matter. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Decide between them." I said: In what matter? The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Strive to understand the matter; if you find the correct way, you will have ten good deeds, otherwise one."
