Book of Blood Money
Description of the blood money for a mukatab slave
Hadith Number: 1187
حدثنا الحسين بن إدريس التستري ، حدثنا العباس بن الوليد النرسي ، حدثنا معاذ بن هشام ، حدثني ابي ، عن قتادة ، عن يحيى بن ابي كثير ، عن عكرمة ، عن ابن عباس ، ان نبي الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال:"يودى المكاتب بقدر ما عتق منه دية الحر، وبقدر ما رق منه دية العبد"، لم يروه عن قتادة، عن يحيى، إلا هشام. تفرد به معاذ، ورواه مسلم بن إبراهيم، وغيره عن هشام الدستوائي، عن يحيى، ولم يذكروا قتادة
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The blood money (diyah) of a mukatab (a slave with a contract of manumission) will be equal to that of a free man in proportion to how much he has become free, and in proportion to how much he remains a slave, his blood money will be that of a slave."
