Mujahid said the meaning of «رجت» is "to be stirred." «بست» "They will be crushed and mashed like sattu (parched flour)." «المخضود» "Those loaded with burdens or those without thorns." «منضود» , «موز» (banana). «عربا» "A beloved wife to her husband." «ثلة» "Ummah" means a group. «حموم» "Black smoke." «يصرون» "They used to persist stubbornly, always." «الهيم» "Thirsty camels." «لمغرمون» "They came into pieces, were scattered." «روح» "Paradise, comfort, ease." «ريحان» "Provision, sustenance." «وننشأكم فيما لا تعلمون» "That is, in whatever form We will, We create you." Others besides Mujahid said the meaning of «تفكهون» is «تعجبون» "They keep wondering." «عربا مثقلة» (with a dammah) «عروب» is the plural, like «صبور» is the plural of «صبر» . «عروب» "A beautiful, lovely woman." The people of Makkah call such a woman «عربة» , and the people of Madinah «غنجة» , and the people of Iraq «الشكلة» . «خافضة» "One that lowers a people," meaning leads them to Hell. «رافعة» "One that raises a people," meaning leads them to Paradise. «موضونة» "Made of gold," from which comes «وضين الناقة» , meaning "the strap of a she-camel's saddle (tight)." «كوب» "A drinking vessel without a spout or handle." ( «اكوب» is its plural.) «ابريق» "A jug with a spout and handle." «اباريق» is its plural. «مسكوب» "Flowing, running." «وفرش مرفوعة» "High beds," meaning beds laid one upon another. «مترفين» means "well-off, pampered." «ما تمنون» "The sperm you place in the wombs of women." «للمقوين» "For the benefit of travelers, this is derived from «قي» ." «قي» "A barren, waterless plain." «بمواقع النجوم» "By it are meant the firm verses of the Quran; some said the places where stars set." «واقع» is the plural, its singular is «موقع» ; both (when «مضاف» is used) have the same meaning. «مدهنون» "Deniers," as in the verse «لو تدهن فيدهنون فسلام لك من أصحاب اليمين» means this. «مسلم لك إنك من أصحاب اليمين» "That is, this matter is accepted; if you are among the people of the right hand, then their word is omitted but its meaning is maintained." Its example is, for instance, someone says, "I am about to travel soon," and you say to him «أنت مصدق مسافر عن قليل» ; here too «أن» is omitted, meaning «أنت مصدق أنك مسافر عن قليل» . Sometimes the word "salam" is used as a supplication; if it is in the nominative, like «فسقيا» , with accusative it comes in the meaning of supplication, i.e., "May Allah quench your thirst." «تورون» "You kindle, you bring forth fire." «أوريت» means "I kindled." "Laghw" means falsehood, vanity, lie. «تأثيما» "Lie, wrong."
