كِتَاب تَفْسِيرِ الْقُرْآنِ
The Book of Commentary
بَابُ قَوْلِهِ: {كَأَنَّهُ جِمَالاَتٌ صُفْرٌ}:
Chapter. The Statement of Allah:“As if they were yellow camels or bundles of ropes.”(V.77:33)
Hadith Number: 4933
حدثنا عمرو بن علي، حدثنا يحيى، اخبرنا سفيان، حدثني عبد الرحمن بن عابس، سمعت ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما ترمي بشرر كالقصر، قال:" كنا نعمد إلى الخشبة ثلاثة اذرع او فوق ذلك، فنرفعه للشتاء، فنسميه القصر، كانه جمالات صفر حبال السفن، تجمع حتى تكون كاوساط الرجال".
'Amr bin 'Ali narrated to us, he said: Yahya narrated to us, he said: Sufyan informed us, from 'Abdur Rahman bin 'Abis, and he heard from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) regarding the verse «ترمي بشرر كالقصر» . He said: We used to pick up sticks three arm-lengths long or even longer and keep them for winter. We used to call such sticks «قصر.» , and «كأنه جمالات صفر» refers to the ropes of a boat which are joined together until they become as thick as a man's waist.
