Mujahid said the meaning of «لا يرجون حسابا‏» is that they do not fear (the reckoning) of deeds. «لا يملكون منه خطابا‏» means that out of fear, they will not be able to speak to Him except when they are permitted to speak. «صوابا» means the one who spoke the truth in the world and acted upon it. Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said «وهاجا‏» means bright, shining. Others said «غساقا» , «غسقت» , «عيينه» is derived from it, meaning his eye became darkened, and from this is «يغسق لجراح» , meaning the wound is flowing. «غساق» and «غسيق» both have the same meaning, that is, the blood and pus of the people of Hell. «عطاء حسابا‏» means full recompense. The Arabs say «أعطاني ما أحسبني‏.‏» , meaning I have been given so much that it sufficed me.
