The Book of Supplications
(النَّجَاةُ مَبْنِيَّةٌ عَلَى رَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ وَلَكِنْ...)
(Salvation is based on Allah’s mercy, but...)
Hadith Number: 2371
2371 - وعن ابي هريرة قال: قال رسول الله - صلى الله عليه وسلم -"لن ينجي احدا منكم عمله ، قالوا: ولا انت يا رسول الله، قال: ولا انا، إلا ان يتغمدني الله منه برحمته فسددوا، وقاربوا، واغدوا، وروحوا بشيء من الدلجة، والقصد القصد تبلغوا"متفق عليه.
Abu Huraira reported God’s messenger as saying,“None of you will be rescued by his works.”He was asked if not even he would, and replied,“Not even I unless God covers me with His mercy; but if you keep to the straight path, are moderate, pray morning and evening and part of the night, and earnestly practise moderation, you will reach [the goal] .”(Bukhari and Muslim.)
