It is narrated from Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to him and said: I have a wife, but my mother is ordering me to divorce her. (Hearing this) Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him, I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "The father is the best door of Paradise; if you wish, safeguard this door, and if you wish, waste it."
