The Book of Al-Adab (Good Manners)
بَابُ رَحْمَةِ الْوَلَدِ وَتَقْبِيلِهِ وَمُعَانَقَتِهِ:
(18) Chapter. To be merciful to one’s children kiss them and embrace them.

وقال ثابت: عن انس، اخذ النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إبراهيم فقبله وشمه.

حدثنا موسى بن إسماعيل، حدثنا مهدي، حدثنا ابن ابي يعقوب، عن ابن ابي نعم، قال: كنت شاهدا لابن عمر، وساله رجل عن دم البعوض، فقال: ممن انت؟ فقال: من اهل العراق، قال: انظروا إلى هذا يسالني عن دم البعوض وقد قتلوا ابن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، وسمعت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول:" هما ريحانتاي من الدنيا".
Narrated Ibn Abi Na'm: I was present when a man asked Ibn `Umar about the blood of mosquitoes. Ibn `Umar said, "From where are you?" The man replied. "From Iraq." Ibn `Umar said, "Look at that! he is asking me about the blood of Mosquitoes while they (the Iraqis) have killed the (grand) son of the Prophet. I have heard the Prophet saying, "They (Hasan and Husain) are my two sweet-smelling flowers in this world."

Hadith Number: 5995
حدثنا ابو اليمان، اخبرنا شعيب، عن الزهري، قال: حدثني عبد الله بن ابي بكر، ان عروة بن الزبير، اخبره ان عائشة زوج النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، حدثته، قالت: جاءتني امراة معها ابنتان تسالني فلم تجد عندي غير تمرة واحدة، فاعطيتها فقسمتها بين ابنتيها، ثم قامت فخرجت، فدخل النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فحدثته، فقال:" من يلي من هذه البنات شيئا فاحسن إليهن كن له سترا من النار".
Narrated `Aisha: (the wife of the Prophet) A lady along with her two daughters came to me asking me (for some alms), but she found nothing with me except one date which I gave to her and she divided it between her two daughters, and then she got up and went away. Then the Prophet came in and I informed him about this story. He said, "Whoever is in charge of (put to test by) these daughters and treats them generously, then they will act as a shield for him from the (Hell) Fire."

Hadith Number: 5996
حدثنا ابو الوليد، حدثنا الليث، حدثنا سعيد المقبري، حدثنا عمرو بن سليم، حدثنا ابو قتادة، قال: خرج علينا النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وامامة بنت ابي العاص على عاتقه فصلى، فإذا ركع وضع وإذا رفع رفعها".
Narrated Abu Qatada: The Prophet came out towards us, while carrying Umamah, the daughter of Abi Al-As (his granddaughter) over his shoulder. He prayed, and when he wanted to bow, he put her down, and when he stood up, he lifted her up.

Hadith Number: 5997
حدثنا ابو اليمان، اخبرنا شعيب، عن الزهري، حدثنا ابو سلمة بن عبد الرحمن، ان ابا هريرة رضي الله عنه، قال:" قبل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم الحسن بن علي وعنده الاقرع بن حابس التميمي جالسا، فقال الاقرع: إن لي عشرة من الولد ما قبلت منهم احدا، فنظر إليه رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ثم قال:" من لا يرحم لا يرحم".
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle kissed Al-Hasan bin `Ali while Al-Aqra' bin H`Abis at-Tamim was sitting beside him. Al-Aqra said, "I have ten children and I have never kissed anyone of them," Allah's Apostle cast a look at him and said, "Whoever is not merciful to others will not be treated mercifully."

Hadith Number: 5998
حدثنا محمد بن يوسف، حدثنا سفيان، عن هشام، عن عروة، عن عائشة رضي الله عنها، قالت: جاء اعرابي إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال: تقبلون الصبيان، فما نقبلهم، فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم:" اواملك لك ان نزع الله من قلبك الرحمة".
Narrated `Aisha: A bedouin came to the Prophet and said, "You (people) kiss the boys! We don't kiss them." The Prophet said, "I cannot put mercy in your heart after Allah has taken it away from it."

Hadith Number: 5999
حدثنا ابن ابي مريم، حدثنا ابو غسان، قال: حدثني زيد بن اسلم، عن ابيه، عن عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه، قدم على النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم سبي، فإذا امراة من السبي قد تحلب ثديها تسقي، إذا وجدت صبيا في السبي اخذته فالصقته ببطنها وارضعته، فقال لنا النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم:" اترون هذه طارحة ولدها في النار" قلنا: لا، وهي تقدر على ان لا تطرحه فقال:" لله ارحم بعباده من هذه بولدها".
Narrated `Umar bin Al-Khattab: Some Sabi (i.e. war prisoners, children and woman only) were brought before the Prophet and behold, a woman amongst them was milking her breasts to feed and whenever she found a child amongst the captives, she took it over her chest and nursed it (she had lost her child but later she found him) the Prophet said to us, "Do you think that this lady can throw her son in the fire?" We replied, "No, if she has the power not to throw it (in the fire)." The Prophet then said, "Allah is more merciful to His slaves than this lady to her son."
