The Book of Merits
(ثِقَةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِصَلَاحِيَّةِ حَضْرَةِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ)
(The trust of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, in the competence of Hazrat Abdullah ibn Mas’ud, may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith Number: 6231
6231 - وعن علي قال: قال رسول الله - صلى الله عليه وسلم -:"لو كنت مؤمرا من غير مشورة لامرت عليهم ابن ام عبد". رواه الترمذي وابن ماجه.
`Ali reported God's messenger as saying, "If I were to appoint anyone as commander without [need for] consultation I would appoint Ibn Umm `Abd." Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah transmitted it.
