The Book of Asking Permission
بَابُ الْمُصَافَحَةِ:
Chapter. Shaking hands.
Hadith Number: Q6263
وقال ابن مسعود: علمني النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم التشهد وكفي بين كفيه، وقال كعب بن مالك: دخلت المسجد، فإذا برسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقام إلي طلحة بن عبيد الله يهرول حتى صافحني وهناني.
‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) taught me the Tashahhud while my two palms were between the palms of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). And Ka’b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I entered the mosque and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was sitting there. Talhah bin ‘Ubaidullah got up quickly and came towards me and shook hands with me and congratulated me (on the acceptance of my repentance).

Hadith Number: 6263
حدثنا عمرو بن عاصم، حدثنا همام، عن قتادة، قال: قلت لانس:" اكانت المصافحة في اصحاب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: نعم".
Narrated Qatada: I asked Anas, "Was it a custom of the companions of the Prophet to shake hands with one another?" He said, "Yes."

Hadith Number: 6264
حدثنا يحيى بن سليمان، قال: حدثني ابن وهب، قال: اخبرني حيوة، قال: حدثني ابو عقيل زهرة بن معبد، سمع جده عبد الله بن هشام، قال:" كنا مع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وهو آخذ بيد عمر بن الخطاب".
Narrated `Abdullah bin Hisham: We were in the company of the Prophet and he was holding the hand of `Umar bin Al-Khattab.
