حَدِیث سفیَانَ بنِ عَبدِ اللَّهِ الثَّقَفِیِّ رَضِیَ اللَّه تَعَالَى عَنه
Hadith of Sufyan ibn Abdullah al-Thaqafi (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith Number: 15416
(حديث مرفوع) حدثنا وكيع , وابو معاوية , قالا: حدثنا هشام بن عروة ، عن ابيه ، عن سفيان بن عبد الله الثقفي ، قال: قلت يا رسول الله، قل لي في الإسلام قولا لا اسال عنه احدا غيرك، قال ابو معاوية: بعدك، قال:" قل آمنت بالله ثم استقم".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sufyan bin Abdullah that I once submitted in the court of the Messenger: O Messenger of Allah! Tell me something about Islam such that after you, I would not need to ask anyone anything. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: First, declare with your tongue that I have believed in Allah, then remain steadfast upon it always.

Hadith Number: 15417
(حديث مرفوع) حدثنا محمد بن جعفر ، حدثنا شعبة ، عن يعلى بن عطاء ، عن عبد الله بن سفيان ، عن ابيه , قال: يا رسول الله، اخبرني امرا في الإسلام لا اسال عنه احدا بعدك , قال:" قل آمنت بالله ثم استقم" , قال: يا رسول الله، فاي شيء اتقي؟ قال: فاشار بيده إلى لسانه".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sufyan bin Abdullah that I once submitted in the court of the Messenger: O Messenger of Allah! Tell me something about Islam such that after you, I would not need to ask anyone else anything. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: First, declare with your tongue that I have believed in Allah, then remain steadfast upon it always. I asked: O Messenger of Allah! From what should I guard myself? The Prophet (peace be upon him) pointed towards his tongue.

(حديث مرفوع) حدثنا ابو كامل ، حدثنا إبراهيم يعني ابن سعد ، حدثنا ابن شهاب ، ويزيد بن هارون ، قال: اخبرنا إبراهيم ، قال: حدثني ابن شهاب ، عن محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن ماعز العامري ، عن سفيان بن عبد الله الثقفي ، قال: قلت يا رسول الله، حدثني بامر اعتصم به، قال:" قل ربي الله , ثم استقم" قال: قلت يا رسول الله ما اكبر ما تخاف علي؟ قال: فاخذ رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بلسان نفسه، ثم قال:" هذا" , قال يزيد في حديثه: بطرف لسان نفسه.

(حديث مرفوع) حدثنا علي بن إسحاق ، قال: اخبرنا عبد الله يعني ابن المبارك , قال: اخبرنا معمر ، عن الزهري ، عن عبد الرحمن بن ماعز ، عن سفيان بن عبد الله الثقفي ، قال: قلت: يا رسول الله، حدثني بامر اعتصم به، قال:" قل ربي الله ثم استقم" قال: قلت يا رسول الله، ما اخوف ما تخاف علي؟ قال: فاخذ بلسان نفسه، ثم قال" هذا".
