حَدِيثُ رَجُلٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ
Hadith of a man (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith Number: 18293
حدثنا إسماعيل ، حدثنا يونس ، عن حميد بن هلال ، عن ابي بردة ، عن رجل من اصحاب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم:" يا ايها الناس توبوا إلى الله واستغفروه، فإني اتوب إلى الله واستغفره في كل يوم مائة مرة" . فقلت له: اللهم إني استغفرك، اللهم إني اتوب إليك اثنتان ام واحدة؟ فقال:" هو ذاك" او نحو هذا.
It is narrated from a Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O people! Keep repenting to your Lord, and I myself repent to Him a hundred times in a day. I asked him, "Are 'Allahumma inni astaghfiruka' and 'Allahumma inni atubu ilaik' two separate things or the same?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: They are the same.
