Hadith of Abu ‘Usayb (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith Number: 20766
It is narrated from Hazrat Aseeb (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was present in Madinah Munawwarah at the time of the funeral prayer of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). People began to say, "How should we perform the funeral prayer for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?" Hazrat Siddiq Akbar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Let groups enter one after another." Thus, people would enter from one door, send blessings and peace upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and exit from the other door. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was lowered into the grave, Hazrat Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "There is a part near the blessed feet of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that has not been properly arranged." People said, "Then you yourself go down into the grave and arrange it properly." So he went down into the grave and put his hand inside. When he touched the blessed feet, he said, "Today, pour the soil from my side." People began to pour soil until it reached halfway up his shins. Then he came out and said, "I have had the closest time with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Usaib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: After me, Jibreel came bringing fever and plague. I kept the fever confined to Madinah itself and sent the plague towards Shaam (Syria). Now, for my Ummah, the plague is martyrdom and mercy, whereas for the disbelievers it is a punishment.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Usaib (may Allah be pleased with him) that once at night the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) left his house and, passing by me, called me as well. I accompanied him. Then he passed by Hazrat Abu Bakr and called him too, and he also joined. Then he passed by Hazrat Umar and called him too, and he also joined. Walking together, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the garden of an Ansari and said to the owner of the garden, "Serve us some ripe and unripe dates." He brought a bunch and placed it before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his companions ate from it. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for cold water and drank it, and said, "On the Day of Resurrection, you will be questioned about this as well." Hearing this, Hazrat Umar picked up the bunch and struck it on the ground, scattering the dates, some of which went towards the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he said, "O Messenger of Allah, will we be questioned about this too on the Day of Resurrection?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Yes, except for three things: a cloth with which a man covers his private parts, a piece of bread with which he satisfies his hunger, or a shelter in which he takes refuge from heat and cold."
