It is narrated from Hazrat Amr bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent him alone as a spy towards the Quraysh. (The enemies had martyred Hazrat Khubaib (may Allah be pleased with him) and had hung his body on a piece of wood. I reached the place where Hazrat Khubaib (may Allah be pleased with him) was hung. I feared the spies of the Quraysh, so I quickly climbed up and untied Hazrat Khubaib (may Allah be pleased with him). He fell to the ground and I fell far away. When I returned to Hazrat Khubaib (may Allah be pleased with him), he was nowhere to be seen. It seemed as if the earth had swallowed him. This is the reason that until now, no trace of Hazrat Khubaib (may Allah be pleased with him) has been found.)

It is narrated from Hazrat Amr bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he saw the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wiping over his leather socks.
